The Carl Hässner Collection pays homage to the founder of Zeha and his passion for soccer. Each of these men’s styles is based on one of the original designs of Zeha soccer cleats from the 1950s. These high-quality leather shoes feature an unmistakable vintage look with the flair of the old East German Zeha soccer cleats. Their padded insole offers comfortable wear for everyday use. The retro leather sneakers are designed in Berlin and handcrafted in Portugal using high-quality European leathers.

BEFORE WEARING FOR THE FIRST TIME
We recommend waterproofing new shoes before wearing them for the first time. This creates a water-repellent layer on the inside of the material, which protects against moisture and dirt. Apply three light sprays, allowing the shoes to dry thoroughly between each application to prevent staining. Do not allow the shoe to become soaked through. When caring for your shoes, don’t forget the soles and edges. For smooth-leather shoes, we recommend applying additional shoe polish after waterproofing. The shoe polish protects the leather and adds shine to the exterior.

Please note:

• Cream residue left on the shoe hardens quickly. This makes the leather look as if it were cracked.
• Shoes made of suede or nubuck leather do not tolerate waxes, greases or shoe polishes. When dry, the surfaces should be treated with a soft brush and a suitable care spray.
• Brightly colored and light-colored models, in particular, require careful and regular waterproofing of the leather to protect the color. This helps prevent moisture-related color loss as well as color transfer onto light-colored leather parts and/or clothing. Detailed care instructions are included with every shipment.

HOW TO PUT ON AND TAKE OFF SHOES PROPERLY
Always use a shoehorn when putting on your shoes. This prevents damage to the material and thus extends the shoes’ lifespan. Take off your shoes by hand. Never use the tip of your foot to pull the shoe off from the heel. This damages the heel counter and causes the shoe to stretch out of shape.

BREAK-IN PERIODS AND MOISTURE
Leather is a natural material that is subjected to stress from damp weather and physical activity. When not wearing your shoes, we therefore recommend using shoe trees made of cedar or beech wood. Shoe trees smooth out creases and help the shoes dry. Wet shoes should be dried immediately with a soft cloth and stuffed with paper towels or newspaper. This absorbs moisture and helps keep the shoes in shape. Then let them dry slowly at room temperature. Never expose the shoes to a direct heat source (radiator, open fire, etc.). Heat makes the leather brittle and dries it out irreparably. Also, protect the shoes from direct sunlight to prevent color fading. We recommend using special waterproofing sprays to protect against the sun (e.g., 4-Season Protector).

CARE OF EVA/RUBBER SOLES
The soles of the Athletic Heritage collection are designed to provide exceptional shock absorption. They are sturdy and durable. The sole material consists of lightweight EVA (a rubber-like material) combined with vulcanized rubber. This sole is not only very lightweight but also flexible. Our cup soles are made of abrasion-resistant rubber.

• Cleaning the soles with dish soap: Dissolve colorless dish soap in warm water and gently work it into a lather on the sole with a sponge. Use small, circular motions, then pat everything dry.
• Cleaning the soles with baking soda: Mix about 1 tablespoon of baking soda with an equal amount of dish soap in a glass until well blended. Rub the mixture into the shoe with a small sponge, then pat dry.
• Cleaning the soles with special care products such as Solitare's "Magic Cleaner"

REPAIRS Shoes are subject to the natural wear and tear of everyday use. Regular and thorough care can help delay the need for repairs. Proper care also makes it easier to spot the need for repairs sooner. Worn heels, outsoles, toe caps, or heel linings should be replaced early on to protect the surrounding material. We recommend visiting a specialist shop that is familiar with the requirements for repairs. Work done by professionals is more durable and of higher quality.
