STYLE:
The 1920 NEWSBOY CAP is a variation of our BAKERBOY. It has 10% more headroom than the BAKERBOY. This means the fabric stretches and can be pushed to the side. The 1920 NEWSBOY is a casual cap with a stiff brim that can be easily folded and a soft, round crown sewn from eight panels. A button is sewn onto the top of the crown for decoration. The outer material is pulled over the brim to the middle. The crown features a 2 cm wide band all around.

The 1920 NEWSBOY Shelter Black is woven from high-quality merino wool and features a dark blue-black color that pairs well with any outfit. The fabric has a weight of 320 g and is pleasantly soft. A protective companion for cooler days.

The fabric was woven by the traditional weavers Marling & Evans in Northern Ireland. Marling & Evans was founded in the 16th century and quickly grew to become one of the largest production facilities in the west of England. Marling & Evans processes the fabric without dyeing it. Inspired by a desire to produce tweed with no environmental impact, they developed a process that allows colors and textures to be incorporated into the fabric.

Who isn’t familiar with those old black-and-white photographs from the turn of the century? Everyone wore a hat: newspaper vendors, dockworkers and steelworkers, farmers, beggars, criminals—people from all walks of life. Back then, only noblemen and noblewomen wore hats. The many variations of caps were designed for active life, mainly for work, but also for sports. The name Schieberkappe comes from the old Berlin term “Schieber,” meaning foreman. This type of cap has also been rediscovered; now free of prejudice and class distinctions, it has won over free spirits and artists. But it still carries a symbol within it. For no one can ignore the fact that a cap-wearer exudes an individuality that would be far less pronounced without it.
